Overnight Works by National Highways

When will this work take place? 

Work will be undertaken overnight Monday to Friday from 8pm to 6am, between Monday 27 July and Monday 10 August 2026.

To ensure the safety of their workforce, they’ll work within phased closures of the M1 as follows:

  • Monday 27 July and Tuesday 28 July 2026 - M1 junction 21 northbound off slip closure, M69 westbound lane closure and ring management.

  • Wednesday 29 July 2026 - M69 eastbound full closure, M60 westbound lane closure and ring management.

  • Thursday 30 July to Monday 3 August 2026 - M1 junction 21 southbound off slip closure, A5460 off slip closure and ring management.

  • Tuesday 4 August and Wednesday 5 August - A5460 westbound closure, ring management

  • Thursday 6 August to Monday 10 August 2026 - ring management at M1 J21 roundabout

During closures, a fully signed diversion will be in place which has been agreed by the local authority.

What does this mean for you? 

Where it is safe to do so, access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained in emergency situations.

They’ll make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum. They always aim to work to the programme, however unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes.
